One of the main benefits of cloud computing is its cost-effective nature, according to one industry expert.
Writing for Byte Start, Steve Ball claimed that there were several benefits to investing in cloud computing - particularly for SMEs.
This included its cost-effective nature; as Ball said "having cloud-based technology means you rent exactly what you need."
"This also makes it a much greener way of managing IT, and hugely efficient in terms of space allocation," he added.
However it is important for SME owners to remember that their existing IT systems management software may been to be integrated with the cloud by IT professionals - before jumping in and making an investment.
Another key benefit cited by Ball is the flexibility of cloud computing; as it effectively allows employees to access their files from any location, simply by having internet access. This doesn't stop it being secure, however; as the cloud provides a "far more robust strategy" for protecting intellectual property.
Ball wasn't the only one to praise the efficiency and options afforded by cloud computing technology; with Cloud Tweaks claiming that performance, reliability and response time could all be improved by embracing the cloud.
Furthermore, the website claimed: "Employees can access information wherever they are" and that: "Cloud computing offers tremendous advantages to small and medium-sized enterprises in terms of reduced costs."
