The website of Square Enix subsidiary Eidos Interactive has come under attack from hackers, reported IT Pro Portal.

Following in the footsteps of Sony's PSN outage, the hackers, thought to be rogue members of hacktivist collective Anonymous, are reported to have taken almost 25,000 emails addresses and 350 resumes.

The attack has provided another blow to the security of websites and networks in the video game industry; and Joystiq has urged users who have registered with the Eidos website to change their passwords in order to bolster home security.

The website of Eidos' upcoming video game 'Deux Ex: Human Revolutions' was also hacked, highlighting the benefit of installing IT managed services software in order to locate any possible security, malware or virus threats.

Eidos' parent company, Square Enix, lamented the hacks in a statement: "We immediately took the sites offline to assess how this had happened and what had been accessed, then took further measures to increase the security of these and all of our websites, before allowing the sites to go live again."

"We take the security of our websites extremely seriously and employ strict measures, which we test regularly, to guard against this sort of incident."

It is thought that no credit card data had been leaked during the attack.
