Epson Korea website hacked

Cyber-criminals have managed to breach the security of Epson's South Korean website.
Sources from the news site admit the personal details of around 350,000 registered members, including usernames, email addresses and passwords, have been taken by hackers and could be used for malicious purposes.
They claim that they are attempting to track down the culprits but have remained unable to find any trace of their presence on the website.
In an interview with SC Magazine, IT security expert Ross Brewer claimed that the hack was likely to have been caused because the company had not invested in sufficient systems management software.
He said: "As people across the globe follow the South Korean example and become increasingly dependent on the online world, the amount of sensitive data stored and managed by organisations will increase exponentially.
"The Epson Korea breach is a perfect case in point. The company has come clean about being unable to find any evidence whatsoever left behind by the hackers, indicating that Epson didn't have the visibility required to effectively monitor IT systems and identify anomalous behaviour."
Reacting to the breach in an article on sophos.com, IT security blogger Graham Cluley predicted that the hackers may be able to use the details for targeted spammed-out malware attacks.
