IT security is the biggest concern amongst business owners today, according to a new study.
Worldwide research from computer security firm, Kaspersky Lab, revealed that 91 per cent of business had suffered from an externally-triggered IT security threat in the last twelve months.
The study polled 1,300 IT professionals in 11 countries, and almost a third claimed to have suffered a loss of data due to a security breach. Ten per cent of companies reported the loss of sensitive information last year.
Churchillsecurityguards.com claim that 92 per cent of British companies have responded by purchasing automated IT management software or similar programs in order to protect their networks. This was incredibly high considering just 65 per cent of the respondents across the world had taken these steps.
According to infosecurity-magazine.com, a source from Kaspersky said: "The number of cyber-threats, including targeted attacks, may lead not only to sensitive data loss, but a company's brand image can also be damaged, which is a top threat for the majority of businesses.
"At least half of the companies feel there is more work to be done. This includes increasing the number of IT security staff, raising the level of investment and implementing the newest solutions and technologies to protect a company's business."
