IT should provide "leadership" according to CEOs

Many CEOs expert their IT systems to provide "leadership," according to an article cited on IDS-Outsourcing.com.
This was one of many expectations CEOs had of their IT systems, with others being that it should "keep the wheels of your business turning," and "be much more involved in your business activities."
It is thought that the CEOs' expectations demonstrated how IT was evolving within businesses, with many making big investments in things such as automated IT management software in order to differentiate their company from its competitors.
These expectations came to light after industry insider Terry White spoke to Computer Weekly about the evolution of IT within companies throughout the world.
He also spoke of the "posture" of IT within a business, namely the "IT intensity, mandates, access to resources, skills." All of these factors are ever-changing within companies, including what CEOs demand of their IT systems and IT employees.
Furthermore, it is these factors that are the key to remaining competitive, White said. He argued: "'CT' is a new term we've invented. it stands for 'Competitive Technology'."
"IT posture is the key to unlocking your company's passage towards competitive technology," White concluded, perhaps prompting more CEOs to focus less on what their systems should be doing for them, and more on how they could utilise the systems' existing features to get one over on their competitors.
