Thousands of Lady Gaga fans have had their personal information stolen and published after hackers broke into the popstar's UK fansite.
U.S cyber-criminal group Swagsec breached the security of the website last month but only published the stolen data online at the end of last week.
The group also made death threats to the 'Poker Face' singer and claimed that she was homophobic.
Gaga reportedly called her local police department after learning about the hack; whilst her record label Universal has confirmed that it will be taking urgent action regarding the security breach.
A statement by Universal cited by sophos.com read: "A selection of email, first name and last name records were accessed. There were no passwords or financial information taken.
"We take this very seriously and have put in place additional measures to protect personally identifiable information. All those affected have been advised."
It may be of interest to record companies to hear that investing in quality network management software can help prevent such security breaches from occurring. Swagsec has previously hacked into the websites of Amy Winehouse, Justin Bieber and Lauren Pritchard.
According to The Guardian, the group has adopted U.S rapper Lil B as their mascot and has repeatedly requested for him to mention it in one of his songs.
